The ARISS programme at the School  will be organised in the week from 19-24th November 2018. The students will ask the following questions to astronaut:

6.        MASTER AMARPREET SINGH PURI (16): Are there many mysteries related to the dark side of the moon and if there, then what is it?

7.        MASTER HARSH KUMAR (15): How much does a spacesuit weigh?

8.        MASTER SURIN MANI TRIPATHI (15): What are your achievements since you has been an astronaut?

9.        MASTER PRATEEK SHARMA (16): Was it your aim to become an astronaut since you were a kid or it was a changed choice?

10.     MASTER RISHI KUMAR YADAV (14): Since today no one is able to travel through the speed of light but our NASA scientist and astronaut keep working and inventing different things on the basis of speed of light. So why no one or nor a machine is able to travel through speed of light?

11.     MASTER VISHAL RAJPUT (13): How do you feel when you go in the space without trees, plants, family & with zero gravity? What food do you eat in the space and how do you excrete?

12.     MASTER KUSHAL JAISWAL (16): The closest star to the earth is Proxima centauri. It is 39,900,000,000,000 km away from earth. How much time it would take to reach their by the speed of light? Is someone or something send from earth to Proxima centauri?

EYE BALL QSO at CLUB VU2LKO

During India International Science & Film Festival, was held at Lucknow from 05th Oct to 08th October 2018, an eye ball QSO was organised at club. Many Radio Radio Amateurs from different parts of VU land have participated in IISF-2018. OM  VILAS VU2VPR and OM MILIND VU2MSB visted our club.

Although we have also made registration to participate in the mega event and our participation have been confirmed by event organisors but at last moment  the category of  event to be participated has been changed. Therefor we could not participate in the mega event. 

I have applied for temporary change of location of my station and same has been received in time. But I was unable to give DEMO/ presentation.

MOCK DRILL EXERCISE at U.P. State Disaster Management Authority (Lucknow) India

 Yesterday I was called up by Maj Gen (Retd) V K Dutta ji (convener of programme) from  National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) New Delhi regarding to participate in Mock drill exercise which was being organised at UPSDMA head quarter Lucknow (India).

   The exercise was for 23 flood prone districts of Uttar pradesh. Various departments like NDRF, U P Police Radio Headquarter and of course me as a Secretary H.A.L. Scouts Group Amateur Radio Club (VU2LKO) Lucknow participated in exercise.

   It may please be noted that Radio Amateurs presence in Uttar Pradesh is very pitiable hence Ham Radio was on focus of all diginatories.  Our efforts was appreciated by every one present during exercise. Most of them have shown their interest in Amateur Radio.

   I alone was present in programme and there are no Radio Amateur in those district for which the programme was organised. Only oral presentation was made by me.

I am very much delighted to say that the number of schools showing interest in ARISS school contact programme is increasing. Now the club is coordinating the ARISS School Contact programme at the following institutions :

International Space Station Astronauts are Calling CQ Students

The Amateur Radio on the International Space Station (ARISS) program is seeking proposals from schools, museums, science centers and community youth organizations (working individually or together) to host radio contacts with an orbiting crew member aboard the International Space Station (ISS) between January 1 and June 30, 2019.

Each year, ARISS provides tens of thousands of students with opportunities to learn about space technologies and communications through the exploration of Amateur Radio.  The program provides learning opportunities by connecting students to astronauts aboard the International Space Station (ISS) through a partnership between NASA, the Radio Amateur Satellite Corporation, the American Radio Relay League, and other Amateur Radio organizations and worldwide space agencies. The program’s goal is to inspire students to pursue interests and careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) and Amateur Radio. A ham recently said, “ARISS shows how Amateur Radio is the most unique hobby/service there is.”

Educators overwhelmingly report that student participation in the ARISS program stimulates interest in STEM subjects and in STEM careers. One educator wrote, “It exceeded our expectations--it created a great interest in both amateur radio and in space exploration. Our kids are completely inspired!” Ninety-two percent of educators who have participated in the program have indicated that ARISS provided ideas for encouraging student exploration and participation. An educator even joined the ham ranks, saying, “This chance for our school’s ARISS contact helped me see the great value of the ham world.  I just passed my Technician License this weekend and have already signed up to take a General class.”   

ARISS is looking for organizations that will draw large numbers of participants and integrate the contact into a well-developed, exciting education plan. Students can learn about satellite communications, wireless technology, science research conducted on the ISS, radio science, and any related STEM subject. Students learn to use Amateur Radio to talk directly to an astronaut and ask their STEM-related questions. ARISS will help educational organizations locate Amateur Radio groups who can assist with equipment for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for students.
