ARISS - NASA sponsored special programme for Students.

I am very much delighted to say that H.A.L. Scouts Group Amateur radio Club (VU2LKO) Lucknow is deeply devoted to explore Amateur Radio activity among students and other interested people in state. We are licensed Radio Amateurs (Generally known as HAM), when all means of communication fail Ham Radio works. It is widely used in disaster mitigation to provide emergency communication.

NASA and other space agencies including Canada, Russia, the European Partners, and Japan & other international partners like AMSAT, ARRL, RAC etc. have started an unique programme known as ARISS to fulfill Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) goals for students education.
ARISS (Amateur Radio on International Space Station) offers an opportunity for students to experience the excitement of Amateur Radio by talking directly with crew members onboard the International Space Station. Teachers, parents and communities see, first hand, how Amateur Radio and crew members on ISS can energize youngsters' interest in science, technology and learning.

Over 1000 live school contacts have been made since 2003 in the world. In India, 8 Schools/ Institutions only had participated in this programme till date.

We are organising the ARISS school contact programme in two Schools at Lucknow as per revised  schedule given below:

1.    H.A.L. School Lucknow             between 09th – 13th May 2016
2.    CMS Rajajipuram II Lucknow    between 22nd - 28th Aug 2016.

Exact schedule for both schools will be informed later.

Our club is working as local coordinator for the event. It will be first time in Uttar Pradesh organizing such scientific and highly technical event for students.

Some Radio Amateurs in India are also planning to relay the webcast of this event for students at their region.

The dully filled application may be sent to ARISS–ASIA (JAPAN) coordinator Mr Keigo Komuro JA1KAB on official e-mail ariss@iaru-r3.org keeping our club (lkohamclub@gmail) in cc. We will do our best for your students.

Moreover, Almost every year Radio Amateurs’ visit many prestigious institutions like IIT Kanpur etc. during the Technical FEST where we demonstrate the HAM RADIO, organize the workshops on various Radio projects like SDR (Software Defined Radio), SSB receiver etc. We also organize the FOX HUNT (an unique programme to locate the hidden transmitter).

We have had demonstration on the HAM Radio at Deptt of Science Technology, Lucknow on National Science day, Regional Science City, during Vigyan Rail at Lucknow, National Children science congress at Lucknow etc.

It will be our pleasure if we can organise the same activity for your students. We shall feel very glad if you alongwith your students may join us for the above programme.

Any query in this regard will be highly appreciated.
